I recently stumbled upon Rachel Ray’s non-profit website, Yum-O! You should really give it a look, especially if there are children in your life!
“Launched in 2006 by Rachael Ray, Yum-o!® is a nonprofit organization that empowers kids and their families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking by teaching families to cook, feeding hungry kids and funding cooking education and scholarships.
Through our three core work areas of Cook, Feed and Fund, Yum-o! educates kids and their families about food and cooking by offering an interactive website that enables young cooks to get started in the kitchen and try out family-friendly recipes; teams up with partner organizations to feed hungry children; and funds innovative cooking programs in schools and educational opportunities for kids who are interested in pursuing careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry.”
Among the many treats featured on the website, she has a monthly newsletter that has great kid-friendly recipes and tips. This month’s newsletter features Banana “Ice Cream.”
Banana “Ice Cream” Fake-Out
A blend of bananas and milk, this dessert could not be any easier to make. Serve it to your friends and family and see if they discover that it’s a fake-out!
3 bananas, peeled and cut into chunks, then frozen
1/4 cup milk
In the bowl of a food processor, puree the frozen bananas until whipped, about 2 minutes, adding the milk in small increments as needed to loosen the mixture up.
Serve the “ice cream” immediately with your favorite toppings.
